hi -- the issue isn't about being in a local church, it is about being in a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, abiding in His Word, cultivating a real relationship with Him, and building a foundation is truly in Him and not man. It's learning to truly know His voice over other's and your own and following it to wherever He may lead. It is about a relationship not a religion, not an institution. It's about being part of the true body of believers in spirit and truth around the world.

Excellent post! I connect with it really well.

My father grew up in the home of Jehovah's Witnesses. It left him with a bad taste for "organized religion" (I must say that word is so annoying...). He says he has a relationship with God, and he goes out on the lake and other places to talk with him. He calls that his "church".

He actually has refused to go to churches. He wouldn't come to mine to see me be baptized last year. However he made an exception when he got married a few months later.

I love him to death and while it is annoying and frustrating, patience and tenderness are really my two tools right now. I'm slowing trying to show him that they aren't all the same (churches that is). That's a tricky scenario though. It's not too unlike defusing a bomb.
