Because we start off New Years with this crazy idea that we're going to "get it right," so we commit ourselves to more Bible reading (notice I didn't say "study"), we commit to more church attendance, just for the sake of "getting it right." When this happens we make it religious, which becomes destructive to our understanding of the Gospel. As far as reading the Bible just for the sake of getting through it, or being the "smart" person, I am going to tell the church to "Stop it!" May the grace of God be with me.
